About this special edition:
The 1 min series is a study of nature through the extended mind within a span of one minute. This series aims to capture the ever changing nature of water. Its energy flows as its form alters and become this new being. Every second and every moment reveals something new. This edition include 13 cards, one being an intro card that links to an auditory file that compliments the piece and creates a full sensory experience.
About "the extended mind":
Inspired by the paper The Extended Mind by David Chalmers and Andy Clark, Yao's on-going mixed media project reveals personal memories documented by her second brain. The artist presents the conscious and unconscious digital record of her life as this is an example of technology's extended cognitive function. In this multi layered series, Yao pushes the boundaries of the mobile device as a medium of photography and videography and as a method of communication.
As technology has seamlessly integrated itself into our lives, can we trust our saved pixels to recall the past and present reality?
