Inspired by the paper The Extended Mind by Chalmers and Clark, Yao's on-going mixed media project reveals personal memories documented by her second brain. The artist presents the conscious and unconscious digital record of her life as this is an example of technology's extended cognitive function. In this multi layered series, Yao pushes the boundaries of the mobile device as a medium of photography and videography and as a method of communication.
As technology has seamlessly integrated itself into our lives, can we trust our saved pixels to recall the past and present reality?
